Hudson Man Seriously Injured in Early Morning Crash

Seatbelts save lives in car accidents. In fact, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, over 15,000 lives are saved each year in the U.S. by seatbelts. Why is this? Seatbelts:

  • keep the occupants of the vehicle inside
  • restrain the most vulnerable parts of the body
  • spread out any force from the collision
  • help the body to slow down
  • protect your brain and spinal cord from impacts

What if you’re not wearing a seatbelt during an accident? Chances are you’ll end up seriously injured, just like what happened to a Hudson man after an early Friday morning crash.

On January 17th, around six in the morning, police and rescue personnel were called to the intersection of Route 102 and Robinson Road for a two-car crash. During the investigation, police determined that 45-year-old Louis Coltey of Hudson was driving his 2003 Mitsubishi west on Route 102 toward Londonderry. He collided with a 2011 Jeep heading north on Robinson Road driven by 53-year-old Mary Stauble of Hinesville, GA.

According to authorities, Coltey wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. The Hudson man was transported to a Nashua hospital with series injuries. On the other hand, Stauble, who wore a seatbelt, was transported with minor injuries. Cotley was later issued a citation for a traffic violation.
